Iams can look like little or large chunks of brown, compacted, substenance.Science diet looks pretty much the same. I will tell you that it is common for a dog to have runny stools if you suddenly change foods. Purina isn't a terrible food and neither is Science Diet, but there are better quality foods out on the market. Biggest thing to look for however, regardless of how much you want to spend, is that AT LEAST the first ingredient of the food is some sort of protein such as chicken, lamb, beef, or fish. Iams and Science Diet each have 2 formulas are follow this advice but not all their formulas do. If you are willing to spend the money, there are better quality foods out there but can sometimes be harder to find. Foods such as Natural Balance, Canidae, Royal Canin, and Wellness are in teh top 9 dog foods regardless of what formula you choose. There are some other good ones but these are the easier ones to find. YOu have to go to a real petstore however and not a supermarket or walmart or any thing like that. Petco carries Natural Balance, Royal Canin and Wellness in practically all their stores. Pet Supermarket carries Wellness and Nutro and sometimes Canidae. Again, price is higher than those you find at supermarkets or walmarts but honestly, you get what you pay for.

science diet comes in a white bag and the name is in blue. it is costly but its all i buy my dog. it helps so much with his coat and digestive track. it someitmes takes a dog a while to get used to a new brand of food. if you want to go cheap just stick with one brand and dont change it. the only thing i can think of being flat is kibbles and bits.

I have never used Science Diet to me its a expensive brand of dog food that you pay for just for the name of it. I have never had any of my dogs on that just purina or something like that and they have all been fine .

anytime you change dog foods the dog will get runny **** for awhile till their bodies get use to it. Once he gets use to it and you stay with the brand you like you will be okay .

Expensive brands are not always the best way to go and Science Diet is not a cheap brand of food to buy
