I think I’d love to feed my dog a raw diet, but I know I don’t have the finances or the time to dedicate to it. I do, however, give him a raw bone a couple times a week for about an hour. I feed him a high quality dog kibble and hopefully someday when I have more money I’ll be able to feed him Raw.

well, i share an apartment with my best friend. She has a cat, a full grown shih tzu, and I have a labrador puppy. We use all Purina brand pet food.

I feed my dogs all organic food. They eat dry food throughout the day (since they are both healthy weights, I allow them to munch when they get hungry) and then for dinner, I give them each half of a can of wet (Nutro or Chicken Soup usually) mixed with their dry food. I don’t eat meat, so they only get meat scraps when we visit our parents’ homes. I know some people that feed their dogs a raw diet (I believe Cesar Milan does this as well), but my dogs are happy with their current diet–and it is easy and convenient for me.

Right now, I feed high-quality kibble. When I have more freezer space, I plan on trying to switch to raw.

I feed my dogs a raw meat based diet. After years of research I still can not find a single person to change my mind. One of my dogs has been eating Raw for 5 years now and has NEVER been sick. I believe that anything natural is better for a dog, and any other animal including humans. Heck, once I can save up to buy my own house and land I plan on raising my how food for my family and my dogs. The things in foods and medications are scary when researched for both animal and human.
I have also found the feeding raw is CHEAPER than feeding a high quality kibble. I spend an average of $35 a month feeding my two 60lb dogs compared to the $60 a month I spent for high quality kibble for the short period of 3 months when I was down a freezer.

I would like to feed a raw diet, however, my lifestyle prevents this. I barely have room to store meat from my family in our small freezer. Also, with my small kids, I worry about cross contamination if my kids play with the dog food bowls (which they sometimes do).
I do feed high quality kibble like Blue Buffalo, Innova, Orijin, Evo, and Taste of the Wild. Generally, I feed Blue or Innova with a bit of the grain free to up their protein amount.

I feed my dog a completely raw diet and have found it to be cheaper and easier than purchasing processed foods and my dog has never been healthier.
I feed him two BARF (Bones and Raw Food or Biologically Appropriate Raw Food) patties a day which are ground up meat, bones, fruit, vegetables and organs etc. I supplement this with up to three raw bones a week and mashed fermented fruit and vegetables and a bit of natural yoghurt, eggs and olive oil.
The results after twelve months for my eleven year old have been this;
eight kilo weight loss
no fleas
no ear mites
kidney and liver disease gone
cancer gone
energy levels up about 100%
arthritis gone
coat shiny and dander free
breath odour free
little wind
minimal amount of poo which disappears within days
So for my dog I would say that changing his diet to a raw one has saved and prolonged his life.

Finding the right dog food is indeed a concern for all pet owners, as much of the dog food available on store shelves, as you may already know, is not good for dogs, in fact, most of it is harmful.
I discovered this a few years back when dateline did a special on it and interviewed Andrew Lewis, who is a leading expert and opponent of mass produced dog food on the market. He is also the author of an excellent book which I purchased called “Dog Food Secrets” which details the poor quality of dog food, how it literally kills dogs slowly, because they cannot handle the ingredients(preservatives and other chemicals) present in dog food today. He describes how his beagle, Noble, died at only 4 years old(had to be put down) from contracting kidney failure from commercial dog food.
It also includes easy recipes for homemade halthy dog food which your dog will go crazy over(I wouldn’t try it, but my Maltese(Bobo) seems to love it).
I thoroghly recommend this product to every dog owner, as it is extremely detailed and documented – AND it is dedicated to breeds too – so, it talks to the specific needs of most popular breeds.

The bottom line is, I purchased it because I don’t wanna hurt my little friend, nor do I want to see him leave me early. I would feel terrible knowing I fed him the wrong things. It comes down to a choice, Do you love your dog enough to stop feeding him things which cause a slow death, or add 6-8 years to his lifespan by feeding him/her the proper nutrition that the dog needs?
